Held on April 2nd at London’s Royal Albert Hall, the prestigious annual Olivier Awards once again honoured those who have made special contributions to our industry.
Obviously we have a special interest in the award for Best Sound Design and the nominees this year were Bobby Aitken, Drew Levy, Ben and Max Ringham and Tony Gayle. Unfortunately there can be only one winner and we’re thrilled that Tony Gayle was victorious, in recognition of his design for My Neighbour Totoro at The Barbican (joining his Best Sound Design win at the What’s On Stage Awards earlier this year). Tony’s award was one of six won by My Neighbour Totoro, which also included Best Entertainment Or Comedy Play and Best Director. You can see the full list of winners HERE.
Our very own Andrew Bruce was awarded his Olivier Industry Recognition Award at a special ceremony recently (details HERE) and when Tony made his acceptance speech he very graciously said of Andrew “…none of us would be here celebrating sound if it wasn’t for you…”. Thank you Tony!
Many congratulations to all the winners, it was a magical night.
